Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester-Syracuse-Binghamton

Not another moment lost to seizures

Consider a gift to our 2010 Annual Appeal Campaign

Even though epilepsy was first recognized as a medical condition thousands of years ago, there are still many myths and misunderstandings present today.

  • Did you know that 70% of people with epilepsy are well-controlled with today's therapies?  And the remaining 30% struggle often with seizures.
  • Did you know that some seizures manifest themselves as a staring off into space?  And some can cause a person to wander around aimlessly and appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol?
  • Did you know that epilepsy in America is as common as breast cancer but receives a fraction of the funding?

All children and adults with epilepsy regardless of their seizure control, along with their families, need to know that a diagnosis of epilepsy does not mean the end of their world.

Children with epilepsy need to know that they are not alone.

Adults with epilepsy need meaningful employment.

All people with epilepsy need better treatments with no side effects.

Education, advocacy, services, and supporting research are the four ways that the Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester-Syracuse-Binghamton helps individuals and families with epilepsy in upstate New York.

Please support our efforts with a gift to our 2010 Annual Campaign.

Please consider giving a monthly gift to support the programs and services of the Epilepsy Foundation all year!
